Dear Sirs,
LONDON.
Having called at Canton to interview Mr Schluter
regarding the many items of information for which I am in need
for the working of the Texas Oil business, I am taking this
opportunity to send you the signed agreement, as both the
original and one copy have now come to hand.
New Shipment.
As I find that the liquidatore of R.B.& Co. are not
to be trusted in regard to the oil business, and as I expect
them to make as much trouble as possible to try and obtain con-
trol of this new shipment, I specially ask you to do all possible at the Colonial Office to consolidate our (Texas You & myself)
position here.

After what I have seen the authorities in Hong-
kong do at I presume the continual hints from the liquidators -
to get Mr H.S.out of the way of being useful to give me any re- quired assistance with the Oil business, I am afraid they might, at the instigation of the liquidators (all more or less personal- ly known to one another) try to trump up some charge against me,
so that at the last moment the liquidators would get control of
the business, to the annoyance of the Texas Co., who along with
yourselves, being helpless might finally have to leave it in
their hands.
Therefore please get me all the assistance possible, and clearly state (as I have already done to the Attorney
